TripAdvisor picks world's top 10 destinations

London jumped five spots to become the world's top destination in TripAdvisor's 2016 Travelers' Choice Destination awards.
TripAdvisor, the travel website, sliced and diced millions of user reviews over the course of a year to select its Travelers' Choice winners for the world's top destinations, which were released Monday.
"The Travelers' Choice Destination awards recognize the world's most beloved travel spots, based on feedback and booking interest from the TripAdvisor community," Barbara Messing, TripAdvisor's chief marketing officer, said in a statement.
    These are the world's happiest countries
    "For those planning a summer vacation, now is a great time to plan a trip to one of these popular destinations where hotels are bookable on TripAdvisor for an average of $200 per night from June through August," she said.
    Top 2016 Travelers' Choice Destinations
    1. London
    London jumped five spots to capture the top spot this year, according to TripAdvisor's 2016 Travelers' Choice Destination awards.
    2. Istanbul
    3. Marrakech, Morocco
    Marrakech, which topped the list in 2015, dropped to third place this year, according to TripAdvisor's analysis of millions of user reviews.
    4. Paris
    The November terrorist attacks in Paris didn't dissuade tourists. The City of Love moved up five spots to take fourth place this year.
    5. Siem Reap, Cambodia
    6. Prague, Czech Republic
    Prague dropped one spot this year to come in at sixth place.
    7. Rome
    Rome held on to seventh place for a second year.
    8. Hanoi, Vietnam
    Hanoi dropped four spots this year but managed to remain in the top 10.
    9. New York
    New York, the top United States destination on the global list, rose two spots to take ninth place.
    10. Ubud, Indonesia
    The town of Ubud on Bali, Indonesia, jumped five spots to take 10th place in TripAdvisor's 2016 Travelers' Choice Destination awards. Click through the gallery to see the rest of the top 10 destinations around the world.
